The Abandoned Pickle Factory is a location in West of Loathing. It is revealed when you accept the quest from the 5th Wanted Poster. Upon visiting the factory, you enter a horrific vision in which you are working a triple shift at the factory. The vision, in fact, contains several pieces of information needed to complete the quest. If you need to get the information again, you can either commune with the gravestone (requires 20 Mysticality) or fight the ghost in each room to receive an item that has the relevant number(s) on it.
Puzzle Solutions
Cukes room
- All three vats must be equal. The simplest way to solve this puzzle is to use levers 1 and 2 to set the right-most vat to 1, then work with those levers to equalize the first two vats to read 16. Once that is done, pulling the right-most lever 5 times will equalize all of the vats.
Salt room
- You need to get the salinity to 976 parts per thousand. The levers, left to right, control the hundreds place, tens place, and ones place of the salinity value. Use them to set the appropriate salinity.
Vinegar room
- The vinegar must be heated to 190 degrees. There seems to be some randomness in how the temperature goes up and down, but the more coal you put in the furnace before using the bellows, the higher the rise in temperature will be. Using common sense to get the vinegar to 190 or above, you can then use the steam release valve and single scoops of coal to get it to 190 degrees.
Outer room
- Once all three rooms are operating correctly, you can use the control switch in the main room. You are rewarded with 3 ghost pickles.
Items
- The ghost in the cukes room provides the pile of bones and cucumbers
- The ghost in the salt room provides the salt-crusted skull
- The ghost in the vinegar room provides the vinegar-soaked bones
- A shovel is available in the vinegar room.
Notes
- You will need a shovel to move the coal in the vinegar room.
- Once a room is set correctly you can reassure the ghost in the room to receive its remains, but you will also receive them once you pull the main switch. The remains can be turned in to the Dirtwater Jail to complete the bounty for 60 XP and 1500 Meat.
